A Hidden Iguanas on the Galapagos.


There are iguanas and iguanas. The ones that are popularly platformed on the Galapagos Islands are called marine iguanas that feed on marine algae. Their lesser-known terrestrial cousins are cactus devouring. But what is rare is their hybrid offspring – only found on Plaza Sur, which is about half a mile off the northeast galapagos-islands_santa-cruz_boats_0coast of Santa Cruz, one of the larger Galapagos Islands. Plaza Sur  is only about a mile long and 800 feet wide at its broadest. This interesting story by Jason Goldman tracks the hybrid iguana’s discovery through the years.
