The Most Peaceful Countries in the World
It is a no brainer to conclude that the world in 2016 had been a less safe place to live, due especially to internal conflicts in some Middle Eastern and African countries and their terrorist spillover in Europe. According to the Institute for Economics and Peace, apart from Syria, the countries with the most internal conflict deaths are Mexico, Iraq, and Afghanistan. However, Syria, the Ukraine, and South Sudan lead in terms of countries with the largest drop in the peace index for the year. Countries with the largest improvement in the index are Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Georgia, a former Soviet republic. The most peaceful countries are Iceland, Denmark, and Austria.
