You’ve done it thousands of times before – but we bet that after watching this video, you’ll take a new approach to tucking your shirt in when you wake up tomorrow morning. Of all the tricky parts of getting dressed, tucking in your shirt doesn’t rank up there as the most difficult.
You may rightfully spend minutes in the morning trying to match socks with trousers, or painstakingly tie and re-tie your tie to make so it reaches the recommended length, but you probably don’t give a moment’s thought to grabbing the lower seam of your shirt and stuffing it in your trousers.
Rather than leaving small but noticeable billows of material just above your waistline, the technique neatly presses shirt into trousers, leaving a creaseless front. Here’s a step by step guide on how the Military Tuck works …
Step 1: Tuck your shirt in and zip up but don’t button up your trousers.
Step 2: Run your thumbs around your waistline.
Step 3: Use your thumbs to remove any wrinkles, pushing them around to the back.
Step 4: Crimp the shirt at the sides, gathering excess material.
Step 5: Tuck in the back, button up, and get on with your day!
In the video, shot by Jackson Veigel for Slate Magazine, a man demonstrates the ‘Military Tuck.’
