The official opening date of the 35th Harbin China International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival (commonly known as Harbin Ice Festival 2019) is on January 5, 2019. Sponsored by Heilongjiang Provincial Government, Harbin Municipal Government, China National Tourism Administration and some China travel companies, the Festival will last to the end of February 2019. If weather permits, it will extend into early March of 2019. The opening ceremony will be held at Harbin International Exhibition Center & City Stadium on the evening of January 5. Firework displays will come after the inauguration of the Harbin Ice and Snow World. The Harbin Ice Festival 2019 consists of several winter events, activities and four theme parks. The latter is the 31st Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo, the 20th Harbin Ice and Snow World, the 45th Ice Lantern Fair in Zhaolin Park and the 2nd Wanda Ice Lantern World in Wanda Theme Park. From December 21, 2018, to Jan 4, 2019, snow and ice sculpture competitions will be held in these parks. If you visit Harbin for the Ice Festival 2019, try to avoid the crowds on these dates: Dec 24-26, 2018; Jan 1-3, 2019 and Feb 4-10, 2019.
