NGC 2174: Stars Versus Mountains.
Credit: ESA, Hubble, NASA. The energetic light and winds from the massive newly formed stars are evaporating and dispersing the dark stellar nurseries in which they formed. The structures of NGC 2174 are actually much thinner than air and only appear as mountains due to relatively small amounts of opaque interstellar dust. A lesser-known sight in the nebula-rich constellation Orion, NGC 2174 can be found near the head of the celestial hunter. About 6,400 light-years distant, the entire glowing cosmic cloud covers an area larger than the full Moon and surrounds loose open clusters of young stars. The image from the Hubble Space Telescope shows a dense interior region which spans only about three light years while adopting a colour map that portrays otherwise red hydrogen emission in green hues and emphasizes sulfur emission in red and oxygen in blue. Within a few million years, the stars will likely win out completely and the entire dust mountain will be dispersed.

The Blackfoot Indians were a nation of American Indians with four distinctive tribes, one in Montana and the other in Alberta, Canada. Fierce buffalo hunters, this nomadic tribe followed their food source. With no experience in pottery, crafts or agriculture, they relied on the land. While natural food sources and small subsidized, the buffalo were their main source of food, clothing, shelter, tools and weapons. Today the surviving heirs still live on much of the Montana land they had long ago.
The flag of Malawi was officially adopted on 6 July 1964 when the colony of Nyasaland became independent from British rule and renamed itself Malawi. The rising sun represents the dawn of hope and freedom for the continent of Africa. The black represents the indigenous people of the continent, the red symbolizes the blood of their struggle, and the green represents nature.
The self-portrait is an 1889 oil on canvas painting by the post-impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh. The picture was painted in September that year, shortly before he left Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in southern France. This self-portrait, which may have been his last, was one of about 40 van Gogh produced over a 10-year period. He would paint himself because he often lacked the money to pay for models. He took the painting with him to Auvers-sur-Oise, near Paris, where he showed it to Dr Paul Gachet, who thought it was "absolutely fanatical." The Musée d'Orsay in Paris obtained the picture in 1986.
