Olive, published by the Immediate Media Company, has listed some of their choice picks for indoor street-food markets in Europe during the coming winter season. This selection included eateries in the following cities: Foodhallen in Amsterdam; Markthalle Neun in Berlin; Paper Island Copenhagen Street Food in Copenhagen; Holy Food Market in Ghent; Mercado San Ildefonso in Madrid; the Marche des Enfants Rouges in Paris; and Mercado Lonja del Barranco in Seville.

Madrid’s Mercado San Ildefonso has two semi-covered terraces, with 15 food stalls and two bars. It has now remodelled itself as an art gallery-cum-food market. Street art by various artists are exhibited along its walls in a SISTREETART competition, judged by a selected panel and culminating in prizes awarded in October each year. In addition, each summer, between 3rd to 27th July, Heineken sponsors a live art demonstration are held by a selected group of twelve artists from different cities, who will showcase the cultural distinctiveness of Spain and Europe, with workshops, activities and various provincial cuisine specially for the occasion.

The cultural mix of cuisine available in the various markets listed in the article is spell bounding, they include food selections from  Mexico, Morocco, Lebanon, Turkey, Africa, Japan, Korea, and Malaysia. Olive also recommended certain dishes in the respective markets in the article.
