Vaccines For Three Deadly Viruses Fast-Tracked

Vaccines For Three Deadly Viruses Fast-Tracked.

The Coalition for Epidemics Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) identified three potentially deadly viruses (viz., the Mers, Lassa Fever, and Nipah viruses) that may be responsible for outbreaks in the foreseeable future and have fast-tracked a search for vaccines to combat them. CEPI is in its initial start-up phase, being coordinated by an Interim Secretariat, which is provided by the Norwegian government, with close support from the Government of India, Wellcome Trust, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the World Economic Forum. The Interim Secretariat, together with its Joint Coordinating Group, are in discussions with many potential government and philanthropic funders, industry partners and other key stakeholders such as regulators, emergency care providers and the World Health Organization to further collaborate and coordinate the vaccine development efforts of CEPI partners, and will link up with other organisations to ensure vaccines reach the populations who need them.
