This is an armchair tourist’s view of Petra: the famous archaeological site, dated around 300B.C., in Jordan’s southwestern desert, about 233 km from the capital Amman. it contains tombs and temples of pink sandstone, earning its nickname, the “Rose City,” with its most famous structure, the 45 metres high Greek-style façade Al Khazneh temple carved into the red mountain rock. It was the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom and accessible through the narrow Al Siq canyon.
