For decades we have been told that our IQs are predetermined by our genetic makeup, and very little will change despite the nature and nurture debate in intelligence research. However, psychologist James Flynn brings us up-to-date with research in this area, and charts some interesting factors impacting our IQ for better or for worse: the Flynn Effect. The potential for an improvement in IQ with the younger ones seems promising as we tinker with these contributory influences. But wait! Apparently, the elderly are able to gain some increment in their IQs as well. Are we becoming wiser with an increase?
