The enormity of our world's needs are overwhelming, and without a compassionate heart, distressing news can appear to be just black and white. Hopefully, by raising a few of these intractable issues here would encourage us to pray, and if necessary, to act.

The Witch Head Nebula suggestively shaped reflection nebula is associated with the bright star Rigel in the constellation Orion. Formerly known as IC 2118, it glows primarily by light reflected from Rigel, located just below the lower edge of the above image. Fine dust in the nebula reflects the light. The blue colour is caused not only by Rigel's blue colour but because the dust grains reflect blue light more efficiently than red. The nebula lies about 1000 light-years away.

Today, there are approximately between 400,000 and 800,000 Dogon people in Mali.
The flag of Laos consists of three horizontal stripes, with the middle stripe in blue being twice the height of the top and bottom red stripes. In the middle is a white disc, the diameter of the disc is 4⁄5 the height of the blue stripe. The current flag was adopted on 2 December 1975, when it became a socialist state. The white disk in the centre symbolizes the unity of the Lao people under one nation. It is also said to represent a full moon against the Mekong River. The red stripes stand for the blood shed by the Lao people on both banks of the Mekong River in their struggle for freedom and independence from the French, and the blue symbolizes the Mekong River itself, a symbol of the nation's prosperity.
Of the thousands of thoughts a person has every day, it’s estimated that 70% of this mental chatter is negative — self-critical, pessimistic, and fearful.
