Borno state, in northeastern Nigeria, is at the heart of Boko Haram’s devastating cross-border campaigns for many years, displacing over 1.4 million people, apart from uprooting millions more around the region. UNHCR had been warning that famine in 2017 is likely in this region, as up to 200 cases of malnutrition have been reported each week. There is a huge shortfall of humanitarian aid reaching Borno.
