2016 Most And Least Peaceful Countries Ranked.
This is the tenth edition of the Global Peace Index (GPI), which ranks 163 independent states and territories according to their level of peacefulness. Produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), the GPI is the world’s leading measure of global peacefulness based on 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators covering 99.7% of global population. Iceland is once again the world’s most peaceful country, followed by Denmark, Austria, New Zealand and Portugal, which improved nine places. Violence costs 13.3% of the world’s GDP or US$1,876 for each person. This figure is 11 times the size of the global foreign direct investment in 2015; can you imagine how much progress in terms of our battle against hunger and poverty had been undercut!
