Reporting on the Plight of Elephants

Reporting on the Plight of Elephants.

The Guardian newspaper has taken on itself to report on the plight of the elephant over the next twelve months due to its most endangered status according to the World Wildlife Fund. The two elephant species are the African and the Asian elephants, and they are the last of the megaherbivores alive. In Tanzania, the elephant population had declined 60% during the last year. The glut for ivory in East and Southeast Asia had resulted in the slaughter of over 20,000 African elephants last year, well above their replacement numbers in new births.
