Singapore Botanic Gardens Bukit Timah Gate

Singapore Botanic Gardens Bukit Timah Gate

With the extension of the Downtown Line of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) System, access to the Gardens is extremely convenient. Just drop off at the Botanic Gardens Station (the Blue Line’s DT9 Station) and the Gardens is to the right of the ground level exit; literally next door. This is called the Bukit Timah Gate. This Gate leads to the “Tyersall extension” to the Gardens which was included in 2009. A total of 18ha of land was added in expanding the Gardens by almost four times its original size in 1859. Part of it will be the Gardens’ Learning Forest when fully completed in 2018. The map below gives some idea of the additional horticultural interests. We trekked through the Tyersall extension and followed the excellent sign posting to the Orchid enclosure, about two-thirds of the way into the Gardens.
