A Practical Guide to Situational Awareness

Unless we live in a society where the peace and order situation has broken down, we often take our personal safety for granted. The cold-blooded murder of cartoonists in Paris yesterday, illustrates for us, that criminal activity can strike us anywhere and at anytime. Situational awareness is part of a psychological self-awareness repertoire known as mindfulness, and it calls for an intentional acquisition of a mindset of sensitivity towards our surroundings, specifically geared towards danger signals in the environment.
