We had a relaxing week in Taipei – moving around the city on our own (surprisingly, not as crowded as Singapore). Especially fascinated by the current exhibits at the National Palace Museum. It’s amazing how over 19,500 crates containing over 696,000 pieces of Chinese artifacts and artworks were evacuated intact from Mainland China at the height of the Communist Revolution in 1948. Most of the high quality pieces were from the Imperial Palace collected by various Chinese emperors encompassing 8,000 years of Chinese history. Taiwanese are really gracious and helpful. Also spent a precious fellowship weekend with Gloudine and Waldo Swart (ex-FCBC).
