You are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
It is a rare individual that likes everyone whom he meets. I am not that person, and because we live in a prejudiced state, it would seem an impossible task. One of my guiding principles in counseling was to try to look through Jesus’ eyes how He views the person. Their value may not always be obvious to me at first glance.
But every person is a center of value, an inestimable divine art piece by the Master Craftsman, despite the presence of distortions that resulted from rebellion and willful ignorance. On occasion, the image may be warped beyond recognition. But which artist would not continue to love their artwork even though it was severely damaged?
I can learn a lot about how to treat an unlikable person with reverence if I keep reminding myself of the value the person has in God’s eyes. The potential for good rather than evil is the purpose behind each of His very special creation.
